The Danger of a Quiet Life
|
You’ve probably heard people say, when challenged to get up and out of their comfort-zone, something like “No; I just want a quiet life.” Yeah – look you tech-die-hards; I’ve catered for you this week with a number of tech-only related articles. Besides; this has to do with success and the future, as well as the now, so do read on why not? A quiet life can be an asset; but only in small doses. Everybody needs some time away once in a while, some peace and solitude. A chance to unwind and review things, to make decisions pertaining to the future. – But spending all day every day doing that leads to procrastination, inaction, lethargy, lack of ambition or determination, etc. A quiet life becomes a dead-quiet life; one of tedious routine and a hard daily grind that never seems to go anywhere. Wake up! Smell that coffee! A quiet time is a sensible and necessary time once in a while. A quiet life is… Well, quiet, dead, dead boring. A living-death of motivation and ambition. In short; a total waste of existence. Never moving forwards, and going precisely nowhere. The epitaph:- “ Died totally unsatisfied and unfulfilled; but had a quiet life nevertheless.” Unfortunately many people have this quiet life; many without realising it even until the end of it comes, and even then maybe not. Why? Because they never ventured out of their comfort zone. Because they never took any of the challenges that life threw their way, because they never walked through any of the doors of opportunity that opened to them but preferred to stay “satisfied” within their own life-vision of humdrum routine and taking the easy way out. Some try achievement at least once, but fail and give up straight away: Motivation, determination, and perseverance, vanish due to a single failure, and they give up altogether to retire back into their protective shell of comfort-zone and world-view. What they fail to understand, the big point that they miss altogether, is that every failure is a rung on the ladder to success. Failure is inevitable at some point and in some way; but as the old adage says: – “If at first you don’t succeed; try, try again.” The “quiet-lifers” possibly tried once, if they could be bothered; and then gave up, either because there was a stage 2, or because stage one failed on the first attempt. I want to use myself here in this example; not because I’m a shining light in the darkness or anything like that, but because this is my story: – In my teens I wasn’t a typical teenager. I was to all intents and purposes a loner who was trying to find some way to set up some kind of business operation in the face of total adversity from an extremely negative, psychotic, mother. A mother who seemed to always make certain that I never had any money, was extremely dominant, and who ensured at every opportunity that she told me that I was unable to succeed in life because I “wasn’t born for it”, and basically totally did my head in on a daily basis. In hindsight I don’t think she actually meant me any harm, but I’m fairly sure that she was looking after herself and her own future at my detriment. – Far too long a story to go anywhere with here. It was a no-win situation, so I left home in my late teens as amicably as possible, and tried to make my own way in life. After a while I eventually settled down to a “quiet life”. Relationships were on offer but I generally declined all but a few, and had no intention of marriage/”settling down” because I knew that there was something that I’d missed along the way: Not in relation to marriage etc, but with regard to success and achievement, and I was going to find that missing ingredient first before I “settled down” in any way. In short I discovered that a J.O.B. (Just Over Broke) wasn’t the way to success: It was quite obvious that the little dictators who imagined themselves to be within a position of “power” within the artificial environment of a company weren’t real achievers: their only successes were in reality as convincers and brown-nosers in regard to their own bosses. They were totally dispensable and utterly at the mercy of the organisation for whom they worked with regard to their future. Also they only had any of their “power” by proxy from their masters, who paid them as little as possible for as much of their time and effort as possible. Only self-employment had any solution to the problem; and that was the way I would be going. – First in the home improvement industry as a self-employed sub-contracted salesperson, then as a trader, then as an IT guru/computer builder/repairer. On the way through life I’d managed to pick up a disability during a road traffic accident, and so, although I could still achieve most things physical, it required a lot of extra effort. In reality, although largely unknown to the outside world, I was expending twice as much as everyone else in terms of effort to achieve the same result. In my thirties that wasn’t really a big problem, but now I’m getting older things are creeping up on me and I probably couldn’t do what I used to do now. Computer building and repair isn’t exactly physically stressful; and a lot of it is a sit-down occupation. At the end of the day, though, there’s very little money in it, plus the fact that one is also competing with the big High Street names such as Dixons, Comet, Staples, Currys, PC World, etc, in addition to the other white-box-builders. It was just as the recession kicked off in America that I got to know David Risley, owner of pcmech.com, online. His name had popped up a number of times in the past, although I’d virtually ignored it and carried on with whatever I was doing at the time. I did buy his “Build Your Own PC” manual to see if I could get any extra tips and tricks from it for my then PC-building career, but other than that I hadn’t known much about him and would probably have said that I’d heard the name if anyone else had mentioned him. Strangely, though, when he used to host PC Mech Live, a streaming show on Ustream from pcmech.com’s staff, I could see that he knew what he was talking about, and had a natural style for clear communication, whilst being articulate but by no means a bullshitter. David gave me a little free advice, and I argued against it, and for it too, in an attempt to pick his brains a bit more. He told me I should start a blog and use the WordPress platform in doing so. (You’re reading it now.) This was more like it, this was cool. I blundered straight onto Twitter and announced my blog to the world. I believe by month 3 I actually managed to top 20 a day visitors even! – But there was still something missing, and despite my dedication to blogging from the word go I wasn’t making anything like the amount of money that people like Yaro Starak etc were making from it. – In fact I wasn’t making any money at all from it, and it was just another financial burden, although one that I could manage to keep going.
Suddenly I heard of a product on the market that sounded right up my street. It was from David Risley again, and it was called 3 Day Money. 3 Day Money is a short 3-day course from David which teaches you the basics of running an internet-based business. It’s good and worth the price; but it doesn’t go anywhere near as in-depth as Blog Masters Club; David’s latest internet-based baby. I was already on Yaro Starak’s Becomeablogger course, which, incidentally is opening its doors again the day that David’s latest intake on the Blog Masters Club course ends and his doors close for another 6 months. The Become A Blogger course is a great course. How does it differ from David’s Blog Masters Club course? Become A Blogger starts from the very beginning, and teaches you from scratch the stages involved in setting up a blog, getting it running, and maintaining it, plus a number of techniques to keep it ahead of other blogs. The real difference is that Yaro’s course is aimed at total beginners. It’s professionally made and very well formatted. It covers a lot of material and is precise, concise, accurate. What it doesn’t do is teach you all the powerful techniques involved in internet marketing in relation to your blog. In essence Yaro’s course starts from square zero and goes to square 40 out of 60. David’s course, on the other hand, starts at around square 10 out of 60; although it does touch on squares zero to 9. David’s course starts on square 10 and goes all the way up to square 61 out of sixty: I kid you not. – That’s why it costs a little more than Yaro’s. Am I saying that David’s course is superior to or better than Yaro’s? Not at all: It’s a case of market sector targeting: – If you’re a complete beginner, and maybe you don’t even have a blog yet, then Yaro’s course is more the course for you in my opinion. However, having said that; if you’ve already started David’s course without a blog then you have absolutely nothing to worry about: David will take great care to ensure that your blog is up and running and optimised in time to start the marketing part of the course. If you have a blog, but it’s not performing as well as you’d hoped, then David’s course is the one for you in my opinion: In it, David will teach you everything that he knows – Powerful techniques and systems for marketing your blog and associated products to the point of generating a six-figure-income. In short, then, I got up off my butt and came out of my comfort-zone. I gave up the quiet life mentality. – I’m so glad I did! My life has direction again; it has a sense of purpose and achievement. I have motivation and ambition. I desire to succeed because of the other option: failure, aka a “quiet life”. When my life’s over and the undertakers are laying people serenely in their coffins; I want to be the one who comes sliding happily and excitedly in: Champagne and chocolate in one hand; a fulfilled life and a legacy in the other, shouting:- “Well, I guess that’s about it huh? – BUT WHAT A LIFE!”
Ooh; did i forget to mention that the doors to Blog Masters Club are open until Tuesday 2nd February 2010? If you want to take your blogging to the next dimension then click the link. Also on 2nd February 2010 Yaro Starak is opening the doors to Become A Blogger students. if you’d like to start blogging like everyone else seems to be doing then click the link. ***OMG – COPY ERROR*———————————————— I am so so so so sorry: I made an error: While you can download Yaro’s free report anytime now; the doors aren’t actually opening to his course until the 4th February 2010 – My copy error; for which I sincerely apologise. - That was a great start to a campaign wasn’t it?! |
The Future of Websites
|
I’m sitting here on a Friday night at time of writing, and I’m wondering to myself where everything is going. – By that, I mean that I’m thinking about the future in general: My future, other people’s future, technology’s future, and of course linked to that the future of the internet. Note: This is a rather long post; so get ready for a reading sensation: – Unlike a lot of people I don’t normally use a Friday night to go out and party. – To be honest I just don’t see the point in it unless there’s something to party about. Friend’s birthdays, festivals, etc are all a great time to enjoy the moment; but needlessly and wantonly going out for the sake of going out just isn’t my scene: I see it as escapism, which it probably is, and there’s nothing whatsoever wrong with that to a degree. Everyone needs to take a break and let their hair down once in a while; but I tend to do things for a reason rather than just on a hunch alone, or if the mood takes me. – Anyway; that’s just me. Others see things completely differently, no doubt. It’s with the above in mind to a certain extent that I’m thinking about the future. I want to be able to decide my own future. “Impossible!” I hear people cry. “That’s just a bit too far fetched Sharron! – I mean; come on girl; you have no idea whether you’re going to live to 115 years old or die next week; any more than anyone else has.” Quite obviously I’ll not be as physically agile as I am now at that age; although I might well still be blogging if I make it that far with a sound mind and the ability to type. There are a number of factors that are going to do their best to prevent me from getting there unless I take action with regard to them though. The first is poverty: If I’m stony broke all my life there’s very little chance that I’m going to make it that far due to factors such as poor nutrition, lack of adequate healthcare, etc. – So I need to be able to generate some financial input rather than simply relying on state handouts of whatever type are available; most of which are usually no more than an old-age subsistence-allowance anyway. Another is staying active: Whilst I’m limited to a certain extent by a disability, (Not a lot of you knew that; but I’m not after sympathy so why mention it unnecessarily?) I still have to stay as a active as possible physically, but not only physically though: If I could fail on entry to British Mensa by only a single point in 1993 then I’m buggered if I’m going to let my mind decay in my old age, or even my middle-age come to that. Blogging is a great way to avoid that too; or at least one of a number of ways to avoid it. And technology is no doubt going to play a vital part in everything mentioned above too: No I didn’t mean spending my old age in an oxygen tent, or upgraded to a cyberman either. Technology is going to boom; no doubt about it. I expect the next 200 years are going to see massive technological innovation and advancement. Maybe I won’t be lucky enough to benefit from all of it myself; but I can see humans living for several thousand years in the not too distant future. The colonisation and terraforming of Mars can’t be that far off either. Your children’s children might even be a part of the project. What about the more immediate future though? Where’s our present technology leading us to? Well I see it this way: There’s another revolution coming; a socio-technological revolution, and it’s already stirring now. You see; the internet, even though it’s a brand new thing in the course of human technological evolution, has already been noted as to its potential uses. It’s my belief that the technologies founded from and based upon the internet are going to join us all together as one people on one planet 8in the future; and as such that means that it’ll account for at least 90% of communications of a social. political, and economic nature. – That means that most business is going to be transacted via the internet. As with the previous business models of the 20th and early 21st Centuries, there are going to be winners and there are going to be losers in all aspects of this; but particularly with regard to business. many newspapers and businesses today are taking their previous or existing business-models and are applying them straight to internet business. the problem that they’re finding is that that policy just doesn’t work, and so they make the excuse that it’s the internet that doesn’t work; when in fact it’s the way that they are using the internet for business that doesn’t work. So what does work then; if the established business model doesn’t? Right; I’m going into the technology of blogging again from now onwards in this article; so you old school fix-your—computer-and- make-it-work-perfectly-only people be warned. But do read on if you dare because you might learn something new. Look at it this way; blogs attract eyeballs, and popular and well-marketed blogs attract the most eyeballs. You’re reading a blog right now: Kkomp.com- Beyond. OK the name sucks, I’ll admit that; but people still like to read it. It has a personal brand; a number of things identify it. – The sucky name being just one of them. All in all it gets reasonably well-marketed, and has a reasonable following and a reasonable number of readers. It’s been going coming up to 2 years soon, and has started to build up a reputation. The fact of the matter is that as time goes by more and more people and businesses are going to be turning to blogging for publicity. A blog by the local rag with the same name as the local rag is going to pull a larger following quicker, because it’s an established name, so when the newspapers finally all catch on to this online thing, as a lot of them already have, they’re going to make a lot of competition for eyeballs, as are established high-street chains, etc. Eyeballs/visitors alone don’t make a decent blog though. Like it or not; whichever way you look at it, a blog costs money. – You have to pay for the domain, the server, the general maintenance, etc; and if you’re marketing a’la affiliate style too, then you have to pay for the affiliate software, the commissions, etc, etc. But the equation eyeballs/traffic = visitors = certain proportion of sales is so old school, so Web 1.0. Whilst it’s true to some extent, it only works if you’re financing the blog thru banner ads, (Which I’ve already told you in a previous article doesn’t work in the case of this blog.) To make any decent income from banner ads, even to make the blog self-financing, requires mega-traffic. If every 1 in 200 people clicks one of 10 banner ads and 1 in 10 who click buy the product, then you’re going to need 2000 visitors to make one sale and gain a commission of anywhere between a pound and 100 pounds. In other words to keep this blog running with banner ads alone I’d need 300 visitors a day constantly, as well as to have a blog lit up with banner ads like Times Square. I don’t want a blog that looks like Times Square though; because if it did then I’d get less visitors, because nobody wants to visit a blog full of nothing but mainly advertisments. – Are you starting to see a vicious circle emerging here? To have a blog that makes even enough money to finance itself then; better marketing is called for. I’m going to cut straight to the chase here: Most internet marketers suck at blogging, and most bloggers suck at internet marketing. But there is a way – Heck wherever there is a will there is a way. You could spend years and an untold amount research/product funds discovering it for yourself – but why bother with that when it’s already been done? Now a few of my readers who have read this far might be getting a little edgy. Why? Because I’m on about blogging again, and I did say in an earlier article that I wasn’t going to mention a certain course that I’ve recently been promoting again… you know the score. – But look, hey, woman’s prerogative to change her mind and all that right – I can’t not mention it right now because it’s still open to new admissions until Tuesday 2nd February, and what’s more it’ll assist you no end to get on top of the new equation that’s going to be at the forefront of this new emerging business model. – well you might want to run your own blog(s) if you don’t already at some point yes? If you do you don’t want to have to pay for it yourself right? You want it to finance itself or make a profit right? If you want to be able to get the most out of the internet in the future then you are going to have to start a blog at some point. – Fact. – It’s unavoidable at some point in time. If you want that blog to not be a drain on your resources and to actually be read rather than just sitting there getting 1 visitor a week then you are going to need to know how to market it properly. – Fact. This IS technology. This is the online technology of the future. This is how you’re going to get the most and the best from the internet in times to come. It doesn’t matter that much if your computer’s not optimised to 101% efficiency for this kind of technology, although that may help a bit: What matters is that you’re ready for it when you suddenly find yourself in the midst of it and lost in it. At this point it seems quite obvious that to tell you everything else that I want to tell you I’ll need to write absolutely reams and reams of material, including and supplemental to slideshows, videos, webcasts, Q&A sessions, personal training… hours and hours worth of quality material. - But I’m not going to. Why? Because it’s already been done, that’s why. Here’s the link to find out more. There’s a video presentation there too, in fact more than one maybe; so if you don’t want to read any more, just watch that/them instead. I apologise for the extended length of this article; but I think I did rather a good job of it.
So I’m going to keep my mind active and defeat poverty on a personal level at least. Maybe I will live to 115? Maybe longer? Remember; I’m your competition. Oh well; here’s that very important link again anyway –> Click Here. What you’ll learn there over 6 months is totally awesome. – I know because I’ve done the course. – Oh that does give me a head start on you I know You’ve got until Tuesday 2nd February to get in on the course; so make the most of it. – Unless you want me to be more successful than you, of course. - I’m not bothered: There’s money on the table; and if you don’t want it then I’ll have it thank you very much. Last time: Click Here. If you didn’t join the course; please send me your name so that I know who I don’t have to worry about Re. competition in future.

LAST CHANCE: Free Webinar Tonight. – SERIOUSLY: Last Chance.
|
During the past week or so there have been a number of promotional articles published; all to do with David Risley’s Blog Masters Club course. I realise that I’ve been going a bit overboard with it as such; but it’s a really good course that over delivers both in terms of material and of value. – I know this, because I was a part of its first run: I was a Blog Masters Club student during the latter part of 2009. I personally both recommend this course and guarantee that if you put some effort into it then you’ll get such a lot out of it. What is the Blog Masters Course, in a bit more detail? Well let me start to explain in this way: – Everyone must by now be aware that a number of bloggers make a small fortune by doing what they do: Blogging. Word has spread rather quickly, and everyone and his dog are now trying to do likewise. As a result the internet is jam-packed with millions of gigabytes of information carried by billions of blogs. All these blogs go to make up a wealth of information; much of which is available for free and on tap for anybody who wants to know. – And all these blogs are written by bloggers… Billions of bloggers. If each were making thousands of dollars from their blog then we could safely say that blogging is currently the most lucrative industry around today; with a multi-trillion-dollar turnover… But that’s simply not the case. It doesn’t happen like that. In fact, apart from a few bloggers making hundreds of thousands per anum from their blogs, most bloggers aren’t making enough to even finance their children’s pocket money from it. - That’s not good and it’s not fair. Why do some bloggers make more than enough to live on; yet most make less than enough for a coffee? The answer is that the big earners are doing something or things that the others are not. What are the earners doing that the others are not? That’s what Blog Masters Club will teach you: Blog Masters Club will teach you powerful things that will give you the potential to skyrocket your earnings from blogging to astronomical heights. – Take my word for it; I’ve completed the course, and so have over 100 others too… Yes, that’s 101 or more other bloggers who already have a head start on you. _ But if you want to get in with the people at the top of the game then now is the time. Don’t procrastinate – tomorrow is too late and never comes. NOW is the time for action.
Get in there… This, and maybe another, post, are the last time I’m going to be telling you about BMC for now. – Why is that? Because on Tuesday 26 January 2010 at 12PM EST the BMC doors are opening to let those who have registered for the course in; and then they’re closing again for 6 months.# That means that time is somewhat short; because by the time you read this it’ll be Monday 25th January 2010 by Greenwich Mean Time (UK and universal time.) which gives you a very short period of time to take action. The good thing is that; and here’s the point of this article at last, that tonight at 8PM EST – That’s 1AM GMT – David Risley, the product’s creator, is going to be doing a FREE LIVE WEBINAR SESSION. During this webinar, which will explain everything to you in detail, you’ll be able to sign up and say “Yes; I’m fed up with all this effort to earn enough for a cup of coffee! I want to send my blog’s earnings potential into orbit. I want to take 2010 and make it MY year: The year that I become someone who generates a decent income rather than a pittance from my blogging efforts!” But what if you can’t make it at that time? I’ll tell you now that David will be recording the webinar… But enough of my drawl. If you want to get on the list and be a part of all this, sign up for the webinar and start to get things SORTED, then there are probably 300 or less places available at time of writing and they’re filling up FAST. …So… CLICK THIS LINK – NOW, to reserve your place at the webinar: You might be lucky and get a seat. IF NOT though; your entry will be registered and if need be David will do a second webinar; which you’ll attend. But what if all this sounds good – but you don’t have a blog? Go for it anyway: By the mid point of the course you should have a fully functional, self-hosted, professionally-tweaked, blog. Once again, in conclusion: What you gotta do? When you gotta do it? NOW! |

The Six Figure Blogger Blueprint
Blogging is huge. I think that probably
goes without saying.
There’s also a LOT of people who want to
make money doing it.
The reality is… few know how.
While most bloggers are struggling to make
even just a few bucks from Adsense, it
seems only a few actually pull off the
big win – going full time.
My friend, David Risley, is one blogger
who has it figured out. The thing to know
about David is…
-> He has been making a six-figure income
from blogging for over 6 years.
-> He made that income in a market OTHER
than "making money online".
So, Dave is the real deal. And he is
releasing the BLUEPRINT to how you can do
it, too.
It is called the Six Figure Blogger Blueprint.
http://www.davidrisley.com/cmd.php?Clk=3484944
This is a 47-page document where David explains
what goes into making a six-figure income as a
blogger. In it, he discusses things like:
- The 3 vital questions to help you pick a
profitable market for your blog
- The exact layout of your six figure, traffic
sucking empire.
- The exact reasons why most bloggers
fail to make money (and how you can
avoid it).
You can download your copy directly from here:
http://www.davidrisley.com/cmd.php?Clk=3484944
And this report is not fluff. This thing is
STUFFED with advice. It truly is a Blueprint.
I’ve been told that David is also going to
be putting out some awesome stuff in the
next several days as he leads up to the
relaunch of his coaching program – the
Blog Masters Club.
David consistently over-delivers, and the
Blueprint report is only the start.
http://www.davidrisley.com/cmd.php?Clk=3484944
Grab your copy now and get started. 2010 is
going to be a HUGE year for blogging and the
income potential for those who know how to
do it is stellar. But, you have to know more
than just stuffing banner ads all over the
place.
Sincerely,
David Risley
P.S. You can download the audio version of the
Blueprint too, which you can listen to in your
car, on your ipod or on your computer.

As you know, this is, in the main, a technology blog; although I do tend to go a little off-track at times: I call this a pattern-interrupt. – It wakes the audience up basically. – At least, that’s the general idea, of sorts. You’ll also be aware that I market products via this blog and other media; from products that are directly related to technology itself, to internet marketers’ products. What have internet marketers’ products got to do with technology? You ask. Well the connection may be somewhat loose and indirect; but in fact internet marketing is using technology as a business utility by utilising today’s available internet technologies as a way of doing business and generating a profit. – So internet marketing isn’t all that much indirectly related to technology as one might initially suppose: It is, in a way. almost directly related to technology in fact. - Surprising eh? But internet marketers, just like bloggers – and at this point let us not forget that many bloggers are internet marketers and vice-versa, myself included – are utilising the social power of current electronic communications technologies via the internet, to make a mark upon society. In the case of bloggers who are bloggers only, and have no commercial desire to add to their blogging exploits, they are imparting and sharing knowledge, information, and, in a way. leaving a legacy on the internet. In the case of internet marketers who are also bloggers, they are doing exactly the same thing, in addition to which they are generating an income while doing so. – That’s the only difference. Having said that, there are maybe a few blogs that are seriously over-commercialised, and that focus solely on selling product to the detriment of the impartation of value, content, and information; but even these are, to some extent, within the above description. So it is with this in mind that I seek not to over-commercialise this blog, but to, at the same time, impart information, and most of all impart value. With the above in mind I am soon to bring to you a chance to gain great value in an indirect way from this blog: You may or may not be aware of the Shopping Arcade which I run as a part of this blog. It’s currently closed for refurbishment, but over the holiday period I’ve had a massive discount-deal running. – Basically a giveaway where I’ve been giving away all of my previous online publications if the customer buys a business-oriented course called 3 Day Money. (If you’ve purchased 3 Day Money through this channel, but haven’t been emailed the free stuff yet; don’t worry – It’s coming.
Let David Risley teach you the basics of a six-figure problogger business in only 3 days. The course includes 14 videos, and has a 92 page transcript, checklist, and audio podcasts of all modules included. Download my FREE 5-page .pdf report on 3-Day Money
That offer’s now finished, and the Shopping Arcade is temporarily closed… But not for long: I’ve just been made privy to some insider information which has set my mind running with ideas. Let me explain some more:- Since July 2009 I’ve been enrolled in a 6-month course called the BlogMasters Club. You may have seen the logo in the footer proudly stating that “I am a club student”. I think I’ll display it again below this paragraph, since I’m short on pictures. (I slightly adapted the original logo to make that badge and offered it the BlogMasters Forums. Unfortunately it hasn’t caught on yet.) Anyway; to make a long story out of an even longer story, as I tend to do at times, I’ve been slogging away at this and studying since that time.
Although I still have, at time of writing, another 2 modules to start, as soon as they are presented; – I can say with great confidence, based upon the 14 modules that have already been presented, that this course is well worth the fee, and some. I’m not going to ramble on about it any longer here; but I’ll just state that if you are interested in knowing more then take a look at the notice I’ve put up in the Shopping Arcade’s foyer, and standby for my announcements in the near future. You’ll see these on the blog, and on social media such as Facebook and Twitter. For now that’s all from me. Please excuse the fact that I’m running a bit behind with everything right at the moment, and therefore the amount of blog content and its type may suffer a little as a result. I’ll catch up in due course. Now that the holidays are pretty much totally over; enjoy the rest of 2010. May the New Year and new decade prove to be a successful one for you; both with regard to tech success, and also to business success. |
Windows 7 Usage
|
This post is just as a matter of interest to report an observation that I’ve made with regard to Windows 7.
I’ve been taking daily samples of my figures and visitor stats for the purpose of gaining some idea of the audience figures for Windows 7 users. Although the figures I’ve gleaned are only approximate, based upon estimates and rounded-off averages, etc, I can report that the figures are rather good as far as Windows 7’s usage is concerned: -
I see that as a rather successful take of market sector by Microsoft’s new operating system. Whilst Windows XP remains the most popular operating system in use by my visitors; the fact that usage of Windows 7 in regard to this blog has gone up from less than 5% during the RC phase to around 15% in the few weeks from October 22nd 2009 to December 31st 2009 is sure to chime early indications of success for the new OS. I’m a little disappointed at point number 2: I’m a proponent of 64-bit Windows 7; the Windows 7 installation that I personally run being Home Premium 64-bit: I thought that the take-up rate of 64-bit computing with regard to Windows 7 would have been somewhat higher. I was expecting a 60 to 70% rate, rather than 40%. I have no further data to be able to confirm why this is the case: It may be that those installing Windows 7 on their existing computers are, on the whole, old or running ancient hardware, or perhaps are having compatibility/driver issues with certain pieces of older 32-bit-only software/hardware? I have no way to tell. It could even be due to general ignorance of the difference between 32 and 64-bit, or that a lot of people were running 32-bit Vista and upgraded in-place directly to 32-bit Windows 7. (An in-place upgrade from 32-bit Vista to 64-bit 7 is not possible: Upgrades from Vista to 7 can only be from 32 to 32-bit, or from 64-to-64-bit operating systems. Changing from Vista 32-bit to 7 64-bit necessitates a backup, reformat, reinstall; exactly the same as upgrading from XP to 7 (32 or 64-bit in either case.) would.) Nevertheless the 64-bit take-up in regard to Windows 7 is a good increase on the corresponding figures with regard to Windows Vista 64-bit’s take-up at a similar point after its release. The fact that most manufacturers who supply Windows 7 preinstalled on their products are pre-installing the 64-bit version and adding a default 4GBs RAM is probably also helping out too. I didn’t cover much of the regular things about Windows 7; such as the new features, etc: There are thousands of sites out there that do that; and I didn’t see the point of being a part of the massive echo-chamber. I’ve covered a few of the cult-ish things about it; such as how to create a magnifier icon on the desktop for the partially-sighted, and some information about the system recovery disk that you should burn if you haven’t already done so, etc. That about wraps this article up then: If you’re reading this article near the beginning of the new decade, then I hope that this decade is an enjoyable and prosperous time for you in your endeavours; whatever they may be.

Encrypt-Stick: Keep Your Data Safe
Did you know: -
Introducing Encrypt-Stick TM Encrypt-Stick™ is the simplest, most effective way to ensure your vital, personal files and records remain private and for your eyes only. Encrypt-Stick™ is an encryption software system which runs on any USB Flash Drive and safeguards the loss of your data, files and records. Our system ensures businesses and individuals can protect their sensitive data while maintaining their obligations to the new privacy and information laws.
512 Bit Polymorphic Encryption The Company entered into a License Agreement with PMC Ciphers, due to its high speed of encryption and its immunity against Power Analysis Attacks – i.e. hacking – on low to mid range micro process controllers. The polymorphic system is hardened against practical attacks such as brute force and represents an advance in encryption technology. In 1999 Bernd Röellgen patented a Polymorphic Encryption technology based on his ‘Polymorphic Method’ and this was immediately classified by the German government as a state secret. Later that year in an attempt to encourage e-commerce the German government declassified all of its encryption technology, allowing PMC-Ciphers Inc. to develop its disk encryption software and distribute 8 million copies worldwide. Röellgen’s patented Polymorphic Encryption technology is able to create ultra-fast, ultra-strong ciphers that are extremely adaptable with no theoretical or practical way to reconstruct keys from plaintext. His method comes with a comparable number of ‘data keys’ as with conventional symmetric encryption methods. However, it adds a significant amount of possible and equally probable algorithmic keys, thus yielding substantially higher security and speed.
Who hasn’t forgotten a password? Encrypt-stick software provides the perfect solution to managing your passwords. Simply enter your passwords into Password Manager and your accounts and passwords will be encrypted and stored on your flash drive. They’re always with you and can be accessed from any computer. You never have to guess again or go through the forgotten password process ever again.
Lost Flash Drive Recovery So you’ve lost your flash drive, and now you have no way to unlock the vaults on your computer. No need to worry! Encrypt-Stick software allows you to easily initialize a replacement Flash Drive by using our Instant Online Recovery System. Simply obtain another flash drive (with a serial number), purchase a license and go through the private-recovery process. Are you concerned about your data’s security? Coming Soon: Christmas Discount Shopping Arcade
|
This being the ‘Season of Goodwill’ and all that fakery mumbo-jumbo; I decided that it was time that I showed some goodwill myself, and did so by making massive reductions; and I mean as massive as I can make in some cases. Not all of the products in the arcade are mine; but everything that is created by myself is heavily discounted in bulk: The more you purchase, the more you’ll save. – And you may be rather surprised… But I don’t want to tell you everything about it before it opens. I’m hoping to open it on Monday 14th – and then in only a limited capacity: You see, to be perfectly honest with you I’ve made a rather crucial timing-error again. - My inexperience is still evident. – I should have started preparing for this time of year around August/September time; but due to circumstances to some extent beyond my control I found myself ill-prepared at the beginning of December: - Learning Curve I had to prioritise either the learning-curve, from which I would gain experience now and in the future; or go into the season with only very limited vision of the marketplace as I almost attempted to do last year with only a bit more than a clue, but realised by foresight that I was not clued up enough to even be able to attempt doing so at that time and ended up not attempting the exercise. Of course, the learning curve, in tech-matters, in writing, and also in marketing, is a lifelong thing and is ongoing. However a crash-course was needed, as I found, at one point, that I was almost half-way through the year, with a little more tech-experience to add to my lifelong-experience, a writing-style that was progressing, but a marketing-strategy that was still sadly lacking in many of the necessities required to be successful. Lucky me: I found BMC It was just after that that I heard of the BlogMaster’s Club Course which was being run for its first time by internet entrepreneur David Risley. Without hesitation I enrolled; and to be honest at first it appeared to be very similar to other courses I’d previously enrolled on, despite seemingly having a bit more depth in some regards. As time went by, however, I found that the depth and quality of the tuition (USA = tutelage.) including the live personal instruction and totally constructive criticism that I requested from David; ‘The Professor’, was making things happen and I was learning things with regard to addressing certain areas which had been almost totally neglected through my lack of experience in blogging. Turbo-boost The course came to its half-way point; and suddenly everything appeared to step up a gear. Now not only had we all constructed a solid framework to begin using as a platform for the future – which appears to be the aim of all blogger-courses – but this course goes even further; more than twice as far as other courses of a similar nature: This course not only builds a solid framework, but it also builds the permanent-structure upon the framework; it puts the meat on the bones, if you like. Is this a sales-pitch? No; the doors aren’t open yet to new admissions – I hear a rumour, though, that they may be open as soon as January 2010; so I’m just laying the groundwork for what is to come: I’m on the course still, and so far I recommend it to anyone who’s serious about anything from getting a little money from their blog to make it self-financing; right through to making a fortune from it and retiring early. There is just so much material; good material, and although I’m keeping up with study, I’m finding that there’s so much to put into action from what I’m now learning that it’s just too much for me personally to accomplish all at once. Continuing in a positive vein, there are a number of other good points yet to be spoken of with regard to the course: - In your own time Firstly; there is no rush: We have six-months to do the course and have the Professor’s attention. After that we have lifetime access to the course material; and I, for one, intend to study a lot of it all over again, which could end up taking a few more months as there’s just so much information and so much to gain. The standard of teaching is excellent: David Risley’s a born-communicator and a hidden genius if the truth be known. – But it’s just not possible, in my case anyway, to have access to all that much beneficial information, and then take it all in and apply it all within six-months. Do I think the course should be longer than? No; because its not information overload: It’s quality teaching that is straight to the point, informative, in-depth, and going further and deeper into the subject than any other course that I’m aware of does. Stretching the course out any longer would just water it down and lose people’s attention. The course has been well-thought-out in advance, so that the natural progressive rhythm of the content presented holds the pupil’s attention, yet isn’t too much nor is it too little over too long a time; which would be boring: Instead it’s just right. – Spot on. As soon as I know when things are opening up to a new intake I’ll be straight on the case; so stay tuned and I’ll be sure to give you a chance to see for yourself if you’re interested. Oh yeah; as I was saying… Now; back to the shopping arcade: - I did say that it’d be opening in a limited capacity. Why? Well the last thing I want to do is to rush it: Rome wasn’t built in a day. I’m building a tiny village at the moment, rather than an empire. I want it to be good, even if that means good only in the sense of a small establishment for now; rather than a massive empire. What can you expect when you have a look inside, then? Like any shopping arcade, you can roam around at will, and choose what you want to purchase. While the deals on offer are cumulative-discount-purchases, they are sure to at least make you raise an eyelid if nothing else. Unlike many such online retail-centres; the funnel-effect doesn’t drag you deeper and deeper into enforced multiple-purchasing before you are presented with the next offer; rather you are welcome to come on in and look at what’s on offer on all levels, then make your purchase-choice or leave empty-handed and return again another time: Think of it as a trip to your local supermarket, rather than a visit from a high-pressure double-glazing salesperson. Procrastination could be a thief of savings There is just one thing, though, that you should know: The arcade is only, at present, temporary: It’s closing its doors on 5th January 2010 unless notified otherwise at the last minute, and will re-open at a later date with different discount-offers. – So if you want something on offer inside, don’t procrastinate and leave empty-handed too many times, or you’ll miss out. As I said before, it’ll be opening on this blog next week; probably Monday 14th unless a last-minute snag crops up. Be prepared for a bargain or two.

View CommentsMicrosoft Security Essentials Rated Top Free Anti-Malware Solution
|
UK magazine Computer Shopper have rated Microsoft’s new Security Essentials 1.0 anti-malware package as top-of-the-class with regard to free antivirus solutions. In the February 2010 edition of the magazine, which brings product news, computer help, tests and analyses new technologies, and runs competitions, Microsoft’s offering was awarded the Budget Buy award and rated with four stars; the same score as AVG 9.0. As we’ll go on to see further down, Microsoft’s product has a smaller footprint and is much more environment-friendly than AVG.
(You may wonder why it was given a budget buy award when it is free: Well free appears to me to be a decent budget!) Computer Shopper claim that their specialised anti-virus testing lab is one of the best in the world, and a member of AMTSO. (Anti-Malware Testing Standards Organisation.) They use viruses downloaded live from the internet as malware samples, rather than having a cumulative collection of virus-samples that may have mutated considerably since the sample was collected. In short; they test using XP Professional with the SP2 service-pack applied, and ensure that the anti-malware solution under test is updated with the very latest available malware definitions. The anti-malware solutions tested were both free and paid products. In the category of free products were: -
The lowest-scoring of these was Avira AntiVir Personal. In summary the magazine said that although it was easy to use, they were very disappointed at its poor web-threat-detection, as well as its unreliable automatic updates. Second from bottom, but yet in third place, came Alwil’s Avast! Home Edition, which has loads of features and provides a good all-round malware defence. – However others did a better job. AVG 9.0 was released while CS were testing, and despite having an unfair advantage in a number of ways, the product continued to hold its own among the best free security software available, coming in second-place out of the four. In first-place amongst the free-category was Microsoft’s Security Essentials 1.0. Computer Shopper’s summary verdict was that it was lightweight, easy-to-use, and accurate. They said that Security Essentials was the perfect choice if you’d rather not shell-out on a paid-for security suite. So although AVG had an herein-unspecified ‘unfair advantage’, it was nevertheless beaten back to second-place by the cream-of-the-crop from Microsoft. Why was this? Taking a look at the stated minimum hardware specifications required to run the 2 solutions might give us a clue as to at least a part of the reason: -
Unlike its resource-hungry rival, Security Essentials requires lower specs to operate, indicating that it has a much smaller footprint: It only needs a 500MHz processor, for instance, it only requires a minimum 250MB RAM, and will operate comfortably within 150MB disk-space.
Another thing CS stated about Security Essentials that gave it the edge was that it “rivalled the best of the paid-for anti-malware suites.” : It ended up with an overall-score of 18/19, having failed to protect against live-malware on just one occasion out of 19 attacks. The software didn’t interfere with or delay the running of any other software either.
Microsoft’s previous attempt at anti-malware; namely Windows Live One-Care, was rather lame; but this time round, the softies have done themselves proud. I myself have written a number of positive comments about Microsoft Security Essentials; one or two of them on this blog itself. Apparently it appears that everyone else is doing the same; which can only mean that Microsoft have yet again excelled themselves with an excellent product, worthy of the accolades bestowed upon it. |
Try 3-Day-Money: It Might Have Your Name Written On It
| On this blog I’ve mentioned the name David Risley a fair bit in the past. You might also have seen some banner-advertisments for products that he’s created; one of which is 3DayMoney.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with David Risley, I’ll explain a few things about him briefly:- He’s an internet marketer and problogger who lives in Tampa, Florida, and he’s been blogging since well before it was even called blogging. He now makes a living from the internet, and very comfortably supports a family which includes a wife and daughter, and a son on the way. “- So what?” You ask. – Well, for one thing, David Risley is the reason that this blog exists: If he hadn’t encouraged me to start blogging in 2008 then kkomp.com – Beyond would never have started. I’ve met and spoken to a number of other bloggers online and off, but, without meaning to take anything away from anyone else – as there are many other totally professional, competent, and experienced bloggers out there- many with a great personality too, I feel that David Risley is always a dominant authority in the blogosphere, and to me he stands out as one of the if not the, top leader in his profession. In fact he’s pretty-much my role-model. “OK so you’ve got a schoolgirl-type-crush on him. – Big deal.” No; it’s a completely different kind of admiration that I have for him: OK I admit that he’s handsome, etc, etc… But disregarding that totally as I do, I admire him for his professionalism, intellectuality, perseverance, determination, charisma, and, more than anything else, his dedication towards making every product that he creates give the customer that much more than anything before it has. “All right I get your drift: Build him an altar why not. – I’m not here to join some guy I’ve never met’s fan-club.” ‘Fair comment; but the reason why I was telling you all that was because he’s promo-ing one of his products again, and I’m in on the promo too. – So I’ve put together the following video and stuck it up on You Tube; and since I made it I thought I may as well post it on my own blog too. “- And this has what to do with technology and computers?” ‘Funny you should say that, actually, because David Risley is a tech-problogger as well as being an internet-marketing guru. Take a look at PC Mech; that’s his first blog, he still owns it. - Anyway, enough of this. – Before long all the reading’s going to be sending you to sleep. – We can’t have that before you’ve watched this short video. – By short I mean less than 2 minutes. – Watch and enjoy: -
- Now that TinyURL that was mentioned all through the vid is http://tinyurl.com/yauyu5v. I chose to use TinyURL to shorten it as they give a preview for the security-conscious. If you’d like to preview the TinyURL’s destination before clicking on it then click here: http://tinyurl.com/preview/yauyu5v. – No I respect your caution: You never can be too careful these days. Anyway that’s what’s on offer, and it’s all that it says and more: I have the product; in fact I’ve owned it close on a year now, and it gets the Shazza-stamp-of-approval, with merit. I know that you’re possibly thinking “I’m a technician/engineer/hobby-tech-person/whatever, not bloody Sir Alan Sugar or Stella McCartney!”. I never even considered that I’d be reading a blog, let alone running one, only two years back. I thought my destiny and living was in building computers… Maybe you’re the next internet business and/or blogging sensation, waiting to come into bud? Who knows? Has the product got your name written on it? There’s only one way to find out. That’s my piece said then: If you want to add anything then there’s the customary comment-box somewhere below on the page. – Do give some feedback if you like.
Let David Risley teach you the basics of a six-figure problogger business in only 3 days. The course includes 14 videos, and has a 92 page transcript, checklist, and audio podcasts of all modules included. Download my FREE 5-page .pdf report on 3-Day Money |
How is Windows 7 Doing Marketwise?
|
According to figures released by Net Applications on or around 5th November 2009, it would seem that Windows 7 had at that time already taken 3.67% of the operating system market; a 1.68% growth since its launch on 22nd October 2009.Most if not all of the figures released on 22nd October were related to the free release Candidate, but the increasing figures suggest that many users are upgrading their operating systems to Windows 7. Despite this somewhat explosive growth; it appears also that Windows 7 installations, in the main, are simply replacing older Windows operating systems, rather than capturing market real-estate from competitors. From September to end of October 2009 the Mac’s market-share grew from 5.12% of the market to 5.27%; a rise of 0.15%. Did those users migrate over from Linux or Windows; or are they perhaps using Windows and Mac on separate computers? Maybe they’re new users? It appears that Windows 7 isn’t causing any Mac people to convert at this time. The overall Windows market share in fact dropped slightly in October. Nevertheless, Windows accounts for 92.52% of the marketing total, according to available figures released on 5th November, compared to 92.77% in September. – It’s growth, then, for both Microsoft and Apple. That fact could well be due to the timing of Apple’s release of Snow Leopard, as well as the factor of a good pricing policy on their part. The low price of Snow Leopard in comparison to Windows 7 is offset by the high price that Mac users initially paid for their machines; so all in all the cost of running either comes down to a similar figure at the end of the day. Of course, the figures released by Net Applications quite obviously are more relevant to the USA than globally it would appear, although do correct me if I am wrong. The sales of Macs in America appear to be greater then their global sales figures; so the figures presented herein could paint more of a cloudy picture for Windows 7 than is actually the case.
Whatever the case; it appears that Microsoft have scored rather well so far with their new operating system. It would be interesting to compare the difference in percentage terms between those Win 7 users who are installing the 64-bit version and those installing the 32-bit version. – I don’t have those figures available currently, but any significant increases in 64-bit usage is sure to increase speed of the heralding-in of the age of 64-bit computing. Why is this so important? Because although a 64-bit operating system utilises more memory-space for its operation, with an increase in 64-bit computing comes an increase of both operating system and hardware-versatility: Gone is the up-to 4-megabyte memory limitation with 64-bit, and it’ll be a good few years before a motherboard is manufactured that can hold even a single exabyte of RAM. Also advantageous is the fact that 64-bit hardware is far more multi-application-flexible; therefore executing a number of different programs simultaneously puts less strain on the hardware and allows faster operation. I’ve heard it said amongst certain geeks that standardisation of 64-bit software with regard to a Windows environment will be at least two years in coming: Personally I doubt that, and would estimate that figure to be one year at most. Without the 64-bit-adoption-statistics to hand, however, I can currently only speculate. What’s your view?

I feel like doing something unusual today; so what I’ve decided to do is to post a (slightly edited) copy of an email that I sent to people on my mailing list. It’s regarding a free report along with a course that Yaro Starak is launching next week; the Membership Site Mastermind course. Perhaps you’ve already heard some of the chatter with regard to this; maybe not. Whatever the case, this course could - and I speak quite sincerely here – be the answer to all of your financial worries at the end of the day. Why? Read more |

EU’s Latest Antitrust-Stab at Microsoft: Furthermore -
|
Whilst I agree that there must be fair legislation with regard to anticompetitive practices, it may appear that the European Union has gone over the top in its latest antitrust probe against Microsoft: - From Computer Buyer Magazine’s website: - “The European Commission has told Microsoft that it believes the tying of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer web browser with its Windows operating system infringes EU antitrust laws. The Commission has sent a Statement of Objections (SO) to Microsoft which outlines its view that the tying of IE to Windows provides Internet Explorer with an artificial distribution advantage which other web browsers are unable to match. This “harms competition between web browsers, undermines product innovation and ultimately reduces consumer choice”. It EU executive is also concerned that “the ubiquity of IE creates artificial incentives for content providers and software developers to design websites or software primarily for Internet Explorer which ultimately risks undermining competition and innovation in the provision of services to consumers”. Microsoft has eight weeks to reply the SO and will then have the right to an Oral Hearing. If SO findings confirmed, the Commission may impose a fine and require Microsoft to make changes to Windows that would ameliorate the Commission’s concerns. In a short statement, Microsoft said it was still examining the SO. “We are committed to conducting our business in full compliance with European law. We are studying the Statement of Objections now.” The decision to issue the SO is based on legal principles established in the 2007 ruling by the European Court of First Instance, which upheld the Commission’s 2004 finding that Microsoft had abused its dominant position in the PC operating system market by tying Windows Media Player to its operating system. That judgement saw Microsoft release a special N version of Windows XP without Media Player, which remained available as a free download. The company was also fined and has to date been ordered to pay fines totalling €1.68 billion for this and other antitrust violations.” This is just too much: It’s no secret that the EU is a corrupt powerbase of political subterfuge and scam-mongering. This appears to be just another attempt to swell the EU coffers even further. Not content in just charging Britain millions of Euros in membership fees so that European politicians can hire call-girls and throw lush parties, the Eurocrats like to have a stab at Microsoft from time to time; as Microsoft is where the money is. In early 2008, Microsoft was fined 899m Euros by the European Commission for anti-competitive behaviour over bundling in the Windows Media Player and browser into Windows. As if that wasn’t enough loot for them, they’ve decided to have a second snipe and see if they can get some more out of the software giant. Now this is rather ancient news from Computer Buyer; as on the 16th June I reported on this in the article “Europe Doesn’t want IE8”, and I also reported Microsoft’s solution to the problem: - “In order to comply with European competition law, Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 will be removed from the European versions of Windows 7. Microsoft made the decision to drop the web browser in order to stay on the right side of the European Commission and avoid further possible fines. Versions of Windows 7 released in Europe will have an E suffix to show that they are European versions that don’t include Internet Explorer.” - So if they don’t include IE then what browser do they include? Internet Explorer is a fundamental software component of the Windows operating system; and it goes a lot deeper than just the browser GUI that IE users see. Without IE, there is, in all reality, no Windows as such. Without IE there are just a number of disjointed codes resembling an incomplete operating system. Conversely, Windows Media Player is more an app than an integral part of Windows. This becomes puzzling now: How, if there’s no browser, does the customer add a browser so that they can download anything? ‘Beats me! According to the BBC Website, in an article from 12th June 2009: - "In terms of potential remedies, if the Commission were to find that Microsoft had committed an abuse, the Commission has suggested that consumers should be offered a choice of browser not that Windows should be supplied without a browser at all," said the Commission in a statement responding to Microsoft’s announcement. It said Microsoft’s approach of offering the program to computer manufacturers "may potentially be more positive" in terms of remedying its alleged abusive behaviour.” -Which still doesn’t really answer the question. – I mean if I were to buy a copy of Windows 7 E, post RTM, to install on a computer that I just built: OK I’ve installed it. How do I get a browser onto it? There is no browser. – No wait; I have a choice of browser? – If the EU have their way then yes. OK; I’ll install FireFox. Is that how it’s going to be? That would actually be rather good. - The Eurocrats are targeting the IE GUI itself perhaps; and maybe they have a point: If the IE GUI is supplied along with Windows then it gives the IE browser an unfair advantage in a way; because many computer users aren’t geeks. - In fact many (European) computer users are rather clueless when it comes to computers. – Other than instant messaging, browsing to find their family tree, and email, they really don’t have much idea of anything else that the internet has to offer. (I know, it’s a bit of a wild assertion; but if a lot of British users are anything to go by then it’s true.) – Therefore, when they buy the Windows operating system from Microsoft they stick it on their computer as is, if it isn’t preinstalled, and they use it as is: Sucky browser, the lot. Possibly half of them aren’t even aware that there’s an alternative to IE. The other half may have heard of FireFox, Opera, Safari… But are of the attitude: “If it works; why fix it?” …But Microsoft have even included a function in Windows 7 to deactivate IE – The GUI bit, that is, for people who don’t want IE on their computer at all, even though they run Windows, as a primary or secondary OS. (Linux users come to mind.) Nevertheless the non-nerdy users probably won’t bother to deactivate IE and choose an alternative browser. So what are the choices? Supply Windows with another browser? That’ll give the new browser an unfair advantage no matter which browser they use; although the Eurocrats may have problems getting any money out of Microsoft for promoting another company’s browser. – But Microsoft themselves probably wouldn’t be too happy about promoting someone else’s product. What if they supplied Windows with no browser and let the customer make up their own mind which one to install? – The problem then would be that the customer has absolutely no way of downloading any software whatsoever: No browser = no browsing = no downloads. Email a browser to the customer. – Yeah right. As soon as the malware distributors hear of that they’ll spoof the email and get everyone to download tons of malware into a blind operating system. Forget that straight away: It’s a definite non-starter. The only option left, then, is to include a copy of every browser available that works with Windows on the installation disc, and let the customer choose which one is to be used from the offing as the operating system installs. As I said before; that appears to be how it’s going to work; but we might have to wait until the RTM to know for certain. What do you think? P.S. The next EU antitrust suite against Microsoft will probably be targeting Windows Live Mail, or maybe even Windows itself: - “The European Commission has told Microsoft that it believes the tying of Microsoft’s Windows operating system with its range of Windows operating systems infringes EU antitrust laws.” – The Eurocrats have got to find enough money to continue to live in the lap of luxury somehow. – Those call-girls cost quite a bit! |

|
URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: Yaro Starak & Gideon Shalwick’ s Become A Blogger course is taking admissions; but the admission window is only open for 5 days starting today! Yes you read that right: You have a 5 day window open; that’s today, Monday 29th June until midnight Friday 3rd July, to join the Become A Blogger course! This amazing course covers every aspect of blogging; from preparing yourself properly to start up a blog, through setting it up, SEO optimisation, killer techniques for getting excellent search-engine rankings and producing top-quality content, to full monetisation and generating a major income from your efforts. Personally I’m on Tutorial 55 at this point; and there’s more to come, although I haven’t been able to implement all I’ve learned yet as there is simply so much quality content and expert tuition from a pair of experienced professionals. I honestly have to say that if you’re thinking of starting a blog, or even if you have recently started one; you’d be crazy to miss out on this sensational course. If you do miss this window then there won’t be another chance to enrol on the course until sometime in 2010 at the earliest: I have this on good authority from Yaro & Gideon themselves. You have 5 days, and the clock is already ticking; so you may in fact have less time than 5 days by the time you read this. Don’t delay: Click the banner below and enrol NOW. – Before it’s too late.
Here’s the official confirmation: Yaro Starak and Gideon Shalwick have just given me official permission to tell you that their famous blogging course is now open… http://www.becomeablogger.com/go.php?offer=kkomp&pid=4&u=http://www.becomeablogger.com/signup/ But they are keeping doors open for ONLY 5 days, and then they will shut it again for the rest of the year! Crazy I know! But they said that they needed to limit the numbers somehow. Last time they opened doors, they were bombarded with a flood of new members signing up, and they had to close the program to the general public for a few months to take care of their new members. It’s one of the best, if not THE best blogging courses out there at the moment, and is recommended by dozens of professional bloggers around the world. Don’t take my word for it, go see for yourself over here:
http://www.becomeablogger.com/go.php?offer=kkomp&pid=4&u=http://www.becomeablogger.com/signup/ Happy blogging! Sharron PS: Don’t forget that you only have 5 days to get in on this. Windows 7 Release Candidate Program Nears the End of the Line
|
The Windows 7 Release Candidate program is to be pulled on 15th August 2009; according to Microsoft: Although you’ll still be able to get activation keys for the RC after that date, you’ll no longer be able to download the software. As I pointed out in a comment on another blog; from March 1st 2010, if you’re still running the Windows 7 RC on or after that date, it’ll shut down every 2 hours, regardless of what you’re working on. This is Microsoft’s way of saying “Buy the software, you freeloader.” It’s probably best to buy an RTM copy of Windows 7 when it’s released on October 22nd 2009, as Microsoft will have made further developmental changes based on telemetry data harvested from many computers running the RC. If you’re currently running any of the beta versions then my advice to you is to back up your important data and install the RC. – Otherwise you’ll be hit with 2-hourly restarts from July 1st 2009, after which the beta software will stop working altogether on August 1st 2009. Rumour has it that Microsoft are soon to confirm UK pricing; if they haven’t done so already by the time that this article is published. If you live in the UK and want to get in on the act and reserve a copy of Windows 7 E at a decent price; then I’ve just discovered; my thanks go to Chris, a reader who included this in a comment on a previous article, that between July 15th 2009 and 9th August 2009, you can get a copy from this location. There’s no need to go here and buy a copy of Vista to get a “free” copy of Windows 7: It’s a con. Wait until July 15th and reserve your copy at a better price. If you live in the USA then this program is already running at the time of writing, and you can reserve your copy of 7 here. Everyone everywhere who knows what they’re talking about is saying that 7 is the best operating system from Microsoft yet. Personally I’m looking forwards to its launch with eager anticipation. – However there are bound to be bugs in the RTM, and it’ll no doubt require an SP1 to get it to run optimally: So don’t be too disheartened when your shiny new copy of Windows 7 doesn’t work flawlessly in every way imaginable. Remember, even XP required 2 service packs to make it almost perfect in its time. At the end of the day you have to remember that Microsoft are only human, despite having seemingly made a somewhat superhuman effort in this case. – No I’m not excusing shoddy workmanship; but it’s a rarity if not an impossibility to get it 101% right first time. It’s a great product; but don’t expect miracles.

Microsoft and the Massive 7 UK Con
|
The internet is probably the most useful place any American can go to for a bargain. In the UK the situation’s slightly different: Yes; UK people can find things at a decent price on the net most of the time and/or cheaper than in most High Street shops; but the way the cookie crumbles favours Americans. I’m not sure whether this is why Americans use the internet a lot more than the British; or whether it’s a result of the British using the internet less, possibly due to the comparative lack of education and abundance of negativity in UK culture when compared with the American equivalent. – ‘Sorry Brits; but honestly we’re going to end up a nation of half-witted moronic thugs and delinquents unless something radical happens, and soon. I’m not going into politics right now: But perhaps I should; as the stuck-up self-interested privileged “elite” currently in UK politics who have allowed this situation to deteriorate over the last few generations seem to hardly be able to run a bath; let alone a country. The term “Americans” herein refers to those who are resident in the US and Canada. I found it rather, to all intents and purposes, racist, that an overwhelming number of sometimes crazy offers that appear on the internet are only available to US and Canadian residents. One such offer concerns Microsoft’s up and coming operating system; Windows 7: An article by Rich Menga on PCMech.com; which is run from Tampa, Florida, by David Risley and others, announces the headline: - “Windows 7 Home Premium Pre-Order, $49.99 Upgrade, $199.99 Full” Inside the article; Rich clearly states: - “Starting today, if you pre-order Windows 7 as an upgrade, the Home Premium Edition (which is what most people would go for) is just a tick under $50. See below.” Wow; that’s amazing! I can order my own copy at a massive discount! (The three images below are copied directly from Rich’s article on PC Mech.)
“The full versions start with Home Premium at $199.99. That’s still steep, but it is cheaper than Vista. See below.”
“What versions of Windows qualify you for the upgrade?"Windows Vista or Windows XP. Yes, XP qualifies be it Home or Pro Edition. Is says so right on the Office Depot sale page for this product. “
Brilliant! I run XP professional and Windows 7 RC. – I qualify! “A near-60% discount on the purchase of Home Premium means this is the cheapest Windows upgrade we’ve seen in a very long time. I use Windows 7 RC on a daily basis. It’s stable and solid. And now, thankfully, cheap (at least for the upgrade). This upgrade offer lasts from today, June 26 to July 11. Where to get it?The links go directly to the Windows 7 pre-order page for the respective vendor.” I attempted to order from Amazon.com: They are unable to ship this product to my address. I looked at Office Depot… Office What? ‘Never heard of them. – An exclusively American company.# I tried the Microsoft Store: The words “United States” were written in the banner at the top of the page. I was asked to sign in with my Windows Live ID: No problem yet; but it wouldn’t allow me to leave the ‘state’ field blank, neither would it allow me to enter a British postcode in the ‘Zip’ field – So I’m stuffed there too. I know; how about if I go back and select ‘United Kingdom’ from the drop-down list that appears when I click ‘United States’ in the banner bar?.. - NO! <stifled scream> :-
I don’t want Vista. I hate Vista; Vista sucks. I’m definitely not buying it just to get 7! Even if you charged me for 7 and gave me Vista free I’d send Vista back. Hang on a minute: How much?
Unless there’s been a massive devaluation of the UK pound against the US dollar that I missed, then I make that offer about 5 times the cost in the UK as it is in the USA! – + I’ll have a copy of Vista to use as a coaster on my coffee table. If you’re in the UK and are thinking of going for this offer; my advice is don’t. Microsoft are fully aware that a lot of British people don’t have the brains they were born with, and are too lazy to even browse the internet: That’s why they’re offering you the chance to increase their Vista sales figures, so that they can say “We did well with Vista in the UK; the figures prove it.” In the meantime you’re in reality paying probably full price for Windows 7 and also jointly all buying a backlog of unsold Vista DVDs at a knock-down price just to make some room in Microsoft’s warehouse while saving on their recycling bill. Yes it stinks: It’s a big con, and if you’ve already fallen for it then Microsoft saw you coming a while ago. Well Brits: Don’t all just sit there with your stiff upper lip, tutting and murmuring “Terrible!”: Get your arse in gear and complain; to the EU bureaucrats you’ve just elected, (– Let’s see how helpful the BNP can be, eh?) to Parliament, to the European Court of Human Rights, to Microsoft themselves even. You, me, and every Windows user in the UK who owns a computer and wants an operating system upgrade are being ripped off! Are you going to let them get away with it? What did you say? – “What’s it worth to me?” – About £120 odd; that’s how much you’re being ripped off for. Are you just going to take it lying down? – No don’t answer that.

Beyond – The Newsletter: 19th June 2009 -*Special Edition* Important News For Bloggers & Would-Be Bloggers
|
In today’s Newsletter I have two major things to announce: - First is this blog’s first Birthday; which will be on 24th June 2009: the day before the next newsletter is scheduled to be published. This blog has almost made it through the first year; and I’ve learned a lot… But more on that in the Birthday post that’ll be published on the day. The second, and most important thing I wanted to tell you about, is meant, in a way, to be a secret right at this moment in time. – But I’ve decided to give you advanced knowledge of it, so that you’ll be prepared when it happens: Now for those of you who have just started, or are thinking of starting, your own blog, there is an amazing course which I myself have just been on. It’s a joint venture by two very prominent internet entrepreneurs; namely Yaro Starak and Gideon Shalwick. – Both from Australia. Don’t go tying me kangaroo down just yet, – because this course, this time round, isn’t starting just yet. Oh no; you’ll have to wait until next week for the sign-up window. You see, last time the course launched, the take-up rate was so phenomenal that many expectant people had to be turned away and queued for the next launch, simply because the servers used in distributing the course material would have been unable to cope with the demand. – The load that would have been put on them had any more people joined. As a result there is now a queue of people already waiting to join the program who have been promised a place; and therefore places are limited as it is, even before the launch starts. That leaves Yaro and Gideon with the dilemma of how to avoid the same type of rush this time round, and the best way of avoiding disappointing people again. They have come up with a solution: - Last time round the signup window, in terms of time, was fairly large, and the Becomeablogger course was well advertised on a number of prominent sites for a few weeks. People umm-ed and arr-ed, as they do, for a while; then they all suddenly rushed at the chance at the last minute. – Result: A crush at the turnstile, and many people didn’t get in. This time the number of available places are even more limited due to the waiting queues that have been waiting pretty much all year so far to get in and skyrocket their blog’s popularity, and therefore their chances of generating a proper income from it. Whoever reads this newsletter, however, has a definite advantage: That of advanced notification, so that they can strike while the iron’s hot and get in there to reserve their place before all the remaining vacancies run out. So when’s it all happening? What is the crucial time to strike? Well; the Roadmap to Become a Blogger report is scheduled to be re-released on the 23rd June; but the critical time period, the sign-up window, starts on June 29th and ends on July 3rd. – That’s only allowing a 5-day window to join. – Which means places could be more limited, even, than I think. Quite obviously you don’t want to miss out on this chance to advance your blog by learning the ways of the blogging – masters. I assume that you’ll want to try everything to get your blog as highly rated as you can, generate a decent amount of traffic, and start earning a profit from it in financial terms. – So by my publishing this advanced disclosure, and also by you reading my article, you’ve put yourself in with a significantly higher chance of being able to do so than many others who didn’t bother to read this, or haven’t heard of kkomp.com and/or “Beyond”. What I’m going to do, then, is to start advertising in banner form in the page header on almost every page of this blog as soon as the sign-up window opens. The advert will be in place of the 3-Day-Money ad, so keep your eyes peeled for it; because it’ll only be there for 5 days. Even if I am a bit slow to take it down; the official window is only 5 days anyway; so it may transpire that even if you click late you could well be out of luck. So please do keep your eyes on the top of most of the pages and posts on this blog; otherwise you’ll end up missing out on a course that is so packed with valuable information that I’ve only had time thus far to implement about a half of it all. I personally guarantee that you’ll be enthralled with it all; but only if you apply what you learn.
…Anyway; having covered that, it’s time for the more mundane matters; such as a review of the week here on kkomp.com. – But don’t stop reading just yet: There’s more news of an exciting course which is starting soon further down the page. Monday. I posted about the sudden drop in the growth of Twitter’s traffic: It had to end sometime; but it appears to have tailed off rather abruptly: -
Tuesday saw the publishing of another computer-help article: -
On Wednesday I published two differing articles: One being another hardware-related article on the theme of online business: -
The other being a minor news article dealing with Microsoft’s decision re. IE8 and Windows 7 in Europe: -
Thursday saw a rather quick post regarding eBay: – I decided to do this as I saw the video on YouTube earlier and liked the song. Those are the 5 posts since the last Newsletter. Don’t forget, if you want to join in on a sensationally-informative course that could lead to your making a considerable income from blogging, to keep your eyes open for the header advert to change. As I said; this’ll be happening on the 29th June 2009, but the sign-up window will only be open for 5 days due to the expected numbers showing an interest, combined with those already queued to join up this time round. Also happening soon, although I haven’t received final details about it yet, is another course from another prominent internet entrepreneur called David Risley. – David is the man behind the 3-Day-Money course that is currently advertised in the header banner on almost every page and post. (If you haven’t yet seen it then you are seriously missing out!) You may have noticed the following advertisment on my Welcome page: - This course may be a little bit more advanced than Gideon and Yaro’s course, and then again it might not: To tell the truth I haven’t yet seen it. I believe that this course is so powerful that nobody gets a pre-launch viewing this time. I may indeed be wrong, but it appears this course is being carefully shielded until the light turns green and it’s released to the wild for customers to purchase. …Yes it really does cost more than a coffee, and yes it will have you earning more than the cost of a coffee also. This is going to be a powerful make money online course. Interested? I believe there’s a free report somewhere behind the advert, as well as a free video in which David will tell you more about it. It’s got to be worth at least a click, don’t you agree? – And no I don’t get paid-per-click incidentally; so it makes no difference to my finances whether 1 or 1 million people click it; it’s just that you could miss out if you don’t do so. And finally… Finally that’s it for this week. There is a chance I might post something this weekend if I feel like doing so. I might even post something else later today. – But I prefer to take it easy at weekends, unless I’m doing something like building a computer or similar. Are you doing anything special this weekend? You might like to tell us about it if so… Have a great weekend.
Blessed Be.

Europe Doesn’t Want IE8?
|
In order to comply with European competition law, Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 will be removed from the European versions of Windows 7. Microsoft made the decision to drop the web browser in order to stay on the right side of the European Commission and avoid further possible fines. Versions of Windows 7 released in Europe will have an E suffix to show that they are European versions that don’t include Internet Explorer. Despite this fiasco, computer manufacturers will still be able to pre-install any browser that they wish to install on computers that come with Windows 7 pre-installed; and the betting is that they’ll install IE8; which makes the whole exercise rather self-defeating. nevertheless, it keeps the Eurocrats happy, and it prevents Microsoft from getting fined further, so at the end of the day nobody loses, despite another bit of mindless bureaucracy from Brussels. According to vice president and deputy general counsel at Microsoft, Dave Heiner. "The worldwide launch of Windows 7 is fast approaching, but a pending legal case raises concerns about the sufficiency of competition among the web browsers that are available to Windows users in Europe. In January the European Commission provided its preliminary view that Microsoft’s ‘bundling’ of Internet Explorer in Windows violated European competition law." Every operating system needs a browser of some kind. It’ll be interesting to make a note of how many manufacturers include browsers such as FireFox instead or supplementally to Internet Explorer along with Windows 7: It’ll serve as an additional indication of who’s ahead in the browser wars. |
WordPress on Crack
|
The blogging platform WordPress began its life in 2003 as a small script used by a handful of people. Since then it’s grown into an extremely popular, fully-customisable, and highly-utilised, open-source serverside application that is used by literally millions of bloggers, (Including myself.) worldwide. 2005 saw the release of WordPress 1.5, from which point WordPress really took off. For a brief development history see this link. This very day I’ve just upgraded to version 2.8: The upgrade process has been automated in the last couple of years; and this particular upgrade went smoothly and efficiently. – In fact I was surprised at the ease of the entire process: It was literally just a couple of clicks! The greatest thing about WordPress has got to be its adaptability. It can be customised in a great number of ways; virtually any number in fact. Part of that customisation has to do with plugins. – Which brings me on to WordPress on Crack: - WordPress on Crack is a tutorial that shows you how to write WordPress plugins in php script format. Not only that; but it has 4 bonus items with it that are free. The page that the link leads to will tell you about that; so I’ll not repeat it all here. - So you take this course, write all the plugins you need for your blog, and that’s that. – Very helpful. What now? Well; since you now know how to write, and have actually written, plugins; plugins that work that is, as evidenced from your own blog, you then carry on writing plugins: Plugins for other blogs. Write a few free plugins, then once your name is known you can write a few more and charge for them. You could also write plugins to order for a fee, maybe advertise the service on your blog why not? Interested? – Good. Click on the link below to find out more: -

Apple Con Their Customers Again
|
I used to be very disapproving of Apple under Steve Jobs, or “Jobsweh – the god of all things Apple.” as I referred to him in the past. I assumed that it was Jobsweh ’s greed that caused Apple to charge extortionate amounts for their products. I do admit that Apple’s products are extremely well-made; which accounts for some of the extra cost. – That’s a fair point. But they seemed to be taking the real retail value of their products and doubling it before arriving at the actual RRP. That was back in Jobsweh ‘s heyday. Eventually I came to the conclusion that if people were willing to pay a fortune for the Apple logo then that was their problem. I even considered buying a secondhand iPhone myself in time. (I never did though. I still have my Samsung z750i, and I’ll be having it unlocked and transferred to Vodafone soon. Reason: 1) I can tweet on Vodafone in the UK. 2) 3 Networks, who I’m about to end contract with, are in short, crap. What’s more they operate a call-centre in India. – I’m not racial-prejudiced, but if I wanted to have a hard time in communicating with Indians over a bad-quality line then I’d invest in shares in the Bombay Telephone Exchange. Besides, I get enough of that bad shit with BT and their Indian call centre, who I spend hours in hell with getting nowhere every time I have a BT-related problem. I want to be able to escape from it using my mobile phone if need be, not have more of it!) Back to Apple. I quote from the aforementioned article: “Apple said today that the iPhone 3G S costs $199 (16GB) and $299 (32GB). But that’s the price only for new AT&T customers. The price if you’re already an AT&T customer and/or are upgrading from an iPhone 3G? Try $699 (32GB), $599 (16GB), and $499 (8GB). To quote Peter Ha: “HOLY SHIT.”” Yes; HOLY SHIT just about sums it up. I think Apple have shot themselves in the foot and blown their lower leg off. I now in a way look forward to watching Apple topple over. – And they thoroughly deserve it too. – Yes it might be the phone companies’ greed as much as Apple’s; but this is still inexcusable. Can you imagine the conversation the phone companies and Apple people might have had in the recent past? “Look we’re Apple Inc: We can charge as much as we like for our products, to a point, and some mug will still buy them. We’re giving you the chance to cash in along with us. – You scratch our backs and we’ll scratch yours.” “I’m starting to like the sound of this: We cash in with you on the massive rip-off under the Apple logo; both of us make a fortune, and as a thank-you gesture we reduce the cost of iPhone calls at some point in the future. We’re still vastly in profit thanks to you guys, who have by then made enough to buy a small county. – OK count me in. We have a deal.” Nothing would surprise me. I can see them trying to pull something like that in the UK also; and after a week’s outcry the sheep will all follow the leader and start paying out for it too; before complaining about how they’ve been ripped off: . “…But it’s Apple, so it must be worth it.” Must it f—k! If I hear anyone say that, or I see it written anywhere, I will instantly start writing my criticisms and pour vitriol upon them. If anyone is gullible enough to believe that then they don’t deserve to have any money. – Sorry; but if I hereby step on anyone’s toes in saying that then tough. – ‘Live with it. Apple have been conning their customers by using this cult image thing for years. – This time they’ve gone too far. It’s time people woke up and started boycotting them. – End of story. If you have something to add then please comment.

3-Day Money – Review
|
A while ago I was involved in the pre-launch purchasing of this powerful product, and I got the chance to sample the course along with a select few, prior to its full release onto the internet. The first thing that struck me was the quality and depth of the content: Although it was, out of necessity, somewhat condensed, it was clearly structured and well presented. After a week or so of sampling the product, I was asked by David Risley, the product’s creator, if I was interested in writing a short recommendation for possible publication in advertising. To be honest I jumped at the chance; and you’ll see the following recommendation within the advertising material if you click on the linked banner. Yes I can vouch for the fact that I did write this text, that it’s genuine and unedited, and quoted word-for-word: -
Bypass the rest of this article. So was I simply trying to make the product sound excellent, perhaps better than it actually is; or was I being totally serious, realistic, and maintaining a full amount of ethicality whilst remaining true to myself and my inherent honest nature? The answer to that is that I was indeed being perfectly genuine in my written opinion. – I absolutely love the product. Really; I’m jealous that I haven’t produced anything like the sheer brilliance of this course. I’m still looking for negatives; but unless I’m extremely pernickety the only negative that I can come up with is the time that it takes to download the entire package. I have a relatively fast pipe, and it still took a while to retrieve all the content. Someone on dial-up would possibly still be downloading it now had they started downloading when I did… Okay, maybe that’s a bit unrealistic, but it probably would have taken weeks. That negative point I just made has two edges: It may take a long time to download everything; but that will give you some idea of the amount of content that David’s packed into this product. The instructional videos are, besides being competently presented in an easy-to-understand style, high-quality and crystal-clear. The .pdf transcripts accompanying the videos are well-formatted, and the accompanying podcasts also exude an heir of professionalism of production. - But that’s not the main reason you’ll like what you get. You’re not buying it to look at nice pictures and excellent presentation alone: The main reason you’d buy it is for its content. I’ve already talked that up; but can I also talk it down too? Umm – well I suppose it doesn’t cover every possible aspect of the subject matter with regard to every possible situation, it doesn’t remove all the thinking for you to make your business a complete no-brainer – Yes I’d like to find a course that can do that too. – I don’t think one such course has yet been written. – And, as I stated above, it doesn’t run your business for you… So; is it the ultimate in perfection? No. Will it solve all of your problems like some magic do-it-all pill? No. On the positive side, though; it’ll open up a successful streak that you never knew you had the ability to achieve if you adhere to the principles outlined within it. Bypass the rest of this article I could rabbit on for hours about this product; going over it with a fine toothed comb and critically analysing every detail. – That would probably bore you to death, and you’d stop reading after the first 2 pages. – So I’ll not even attempt that futile exercise. In conclusion, then, I’ll say that if you want something that’ll at the very least put you on the right lines, giving you a lot of motivation and showing you a correct and proven method for setting up and running a successful online income stream/business, then to all intents and purposes I do believe you’ve found it. This could well be your personal “eureka!” moment. …Provided that you’re prepared to part with a small amount of funds to proceed on what could be the start of a life-changing voyage for you. Yes I’ll be straight up with you: I mean you have to buy the product to benefit from it. – Quite logically, really. How do you do that? Click the banner below, read and watch as David tells you more, and then the final purchase choice is down to you. One more thing, just before I end this article, is that there’s a money-back guarantee associated with this course: - “As soon as you submit your order, you’ll have immediate access to the training material both online and available for download to your computer. If, after 60 days, you can’t make it work for you, the refund process is super easy. That’s Right, I said You’ll Get Your Money Back! After you are onboard, take 60 days to test drive the course. If you’re not making money and or not satisfied with what you have learned, just ask for a refund. Remember, the course was designed to go through in 3 days. Now, obviously you won’t be able to put everything into practice in 3 days, however I think you’ll see that a 60 day guarantee is MORE than adequate.
David makes this guarantee to you because he knows that by giving this an honest attempt, He believes you will be well on your way to making money online, just like tons of other people and myself are doing all over the world. Again, test drive the course for 60 days, and if you’re not making money or not satisfied with what you have learned, you can get a full refund, no questions asked…” … So there really is nothing to lose at the end of the day. – Click on the banner below and David Risley himself will tell you more in a video. |

Patch Tuesday is Coming – But Macs May Remain Unpatched
|
Andrew Storms, director of security operations at nCircle Network Security, suspects that Microsoft won’t issue a patch to protect Mac users of their PowerPoint software this month on Patch Tuesday: - Despite the fact that a bumper crop of patches is expected, it appears that users of PowerPoint for the Mac may be left out in the cold. "We don’t have the PowerPoint for the Mac patches," he said after reviewing the advance notice. On last month’s Patch Tuesday, Microsoft patched the Windows versions of PowerPoint, but not the Mac editions, saying that it didn’t want to hang onto the update while waiting for Mac fixes. The PowerPoint bug in Windows has been the subject of attacks by exploit code since April. Jonathan Ness, an engineer at the Microsoft Security Response Center, said last month: – "None of the exploit samples we have analyzed will reliably exploit the Mac version, so we didn’t want to hold the Windows security update while we wait for Mac packages," On June 4th 2009, Microsoft stated that it will deliver 10 security updates on its June 2009 Patch Tuesday, to patch serious bugs in Windows, Internet Explorer (IE), Word and Excel. According to sources it is apparent that 6 of the 10 patches are to be marked as "critical," while three will be rated as "moderate" and one as "important".

*Breaking News: Microsoft To Launch Windows Seven on 22nd October 2009
|
On 2nd June 2009 it was stated by Microsoft that Windows 7 will be in the stores and pre-loaded on new computers on 22nd October 2009. This is a good move on Microsoft’s part; as the sales pace and availability of product will be going at full-tilt by the holiday season. This time they get to cash in on the buying bonanza; such that it might be in these uncertain economic times. According to a company spokeswoman; Microsoft will be offering discounted upgrades to Windows 7 from Vista to customers who buy a new PC from July 1st 2009, in a program which they’ve named "Windows Upgrade Option". It’s great to know when this gem of an operating system will RTM. It’ll be interesting to note any further changes they make when compared to the RC1 release; which was released in May. This is exciting news to me. Microsoft have leaned over backwards to give their customers what they want as far as this new product is concerned; and it’ll be good to see their efforts come to fruition. The big question is, no matter how good a reception Windows 7 gets; how much lasting harm has Vista done to Microsoft, and how long will it take to recover and eradicate the deficit in confidence that their biggest blunder to date has caused? What do you think?

When Can We Expect Windows 7 To Be Released?
|
Microsoft have already said that Windows 7 will ship in 2009. – But when in 2009? In May 2009, at Microsoft’s annual TechEd USA conference, Microsoft officials confirmed that Windows 7 will be shipped in time for it to be preloaded on PCs by the Christmas holiday season. Bearing in mind that there is usually a delay of up to three months between the RTM date and the time when the operating system is available preloaded on new machines, we’d be looking at sometime in August or September 2009 for an RTM date. It would be nice for Microsoft if they could accomplish this as a back-to-school release; at least so that the mini-geeks can rush out to buy it so that they can boast to their nerdy school friends that they too are running Windows 7 on their computers. There are rumours circulating that users buying new PCs with Windows Vista preloaded from July 1st 2009 onwards will be able to get a Windows 7 upgrade for free when it becomes available. As I said; this date is only a rumour and hasn’t been officially confirmed as far as I know: So if you do go out and buy a new PC on 1st July 2009; don’t blame me if you end up not getting 7 for free further down the line. I don’t think Microsoft will be able to make any targets as far as a back-to-school release goes though, if the truth be known: The timeframe is just too tight. I do, however, consider it a possibility that 7 will be RTM’d in August, or September. I predict that we’re looking at an official launch date of mid-to-late November, or even early December perhaps: Very soon after which Windows 7 will be available preloaded as standard on new machines; well in time for the Holidays. This is by no means the official word; but I’d wager a gamble on this being fairly accurate.
