“ – Have you been taking drugs while watching Monty Python films or something, Shazzalive? What the heck is God Mode? – ” <— Reader’s voice
“GodMode” is a term devised by the Microsoft development team. It honestly has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the Life of Brian, the Holy Hand-Grenade of Antioch, or any of the suchlike. In this article I intend to create a Holy folder from which you can access all the sacred benefits of this supreme-command-center.
“GodMode” provides a single place to access all Windows settings without needing to browse options and folders in the Control Panel in Windows 7. (32 and 64-bit.)
There are various (non-religious/blasphemous) ways of getting into, or should I say – accessing, God Mode: The method I bring to you for your enlightenment isn’t sourced completely from my own original material; and I’d mention its’ author if I could remember for the life of me who it was.
– Checking through Google; it might have been tomshardware.com – ?
What I can tell you is that GodMode is the title of only one out of a number of little-known folders that are also available for creation in Windows 7.
Let’s get cracking: -
Let’s call the entire operation “God Mode”, even though God Mode is only a single part of it. Normally this operation would involve a lot of fiddling about, accompanied by the use of long hexadecimal sequences. I’ve no intention to try to make this process look like it’s only achievable by rocket-scientists and members of Mensa, however.
- So we can make a start by creating an “inner-sanctum” in the form of a folder called “God Mode”. Where exactly you create this folder is entirely up to you. Personally I created mine in the root-directory of F: drive; because I have an F: drive, and it appeared to be the most convenient place to create the folder at the time.
You may or may not have an F: drive; but whether or not you have an F: drive really makes absolutely no difference at all – because you can create the folder anywhere that’s convenient to you on your local PC.
-OK; let’s crack straight on with the last few details of it: -
*Having created the folder – the easy bit – we now need to put something in it – the hard bit. Like I said; normally this operation would involve a lot of fiddling about, accompanied by the use of long hexadecimal sequences – but I’ve
made it a lot simpler by using a batch-file to do all the dirty-work.
*Where is the batch-file I use? – HERE. Click the link, download the godmodes.bat file to your PC, and pop it in to the God Mode folder.
*Now run it: Click on the batch-file icon. – Another folder appears inside the God Mode folder called “Special Folders”.
*Right-click that folder and create a shortcut to it.
*Rename the shortcut to “God Mode” ( or anything else that you prefer).
*Drag and drop the shortcut onto your desktop.
*Click and enjoy.
- Sixteen new folders packed full of handy-functions.
- Rejoice, for you too have now found God Mode! -
Praise Him! – Praise Him!
