I’d like to focus the attention of laptop users and the like toward a useful little app which is totally free, and was first announced in Washington, USA, at Gnomedex 2008.
The app is called “Turn Off LCD” and that’s exactly what it does: it turns off the LCD screen on your laptop until you press the escape key. There are probably quite a number of occasions where you’d rather have just sound but not have to waste your battery’s charge powering the display which you don’t need running anyway. This little app is the answer to the problem, and you can find details of this by clicking here.
The guy at Redmond Pie tested it on Windows Vista. I’ve tested it with Windows 7. I don’t know for a fact if it works with Windows XP, but it should do as far as I know. – I think they said that it does work with XP at Gnomedex 2008 if I remember correctly.
- So do use this little proggy and save energy/save your battery.
