Sometimes the first place people turn to in order to make money from their blog is Google AdSense. – But can you make a decent profit from AdSense, and if so how much can you expect to make?

The answer to that question all depends upon the amount of traffic that visits your blog: If you have a high volume of traffic then AdSense can make a little extra profit for you. I’ve known a blogger to make a few thousand dollars from AdSense in a year. – This particular blogger, however, had about 10,000 visitors per day.

I won’t bore you with thousands of statistics here; but what I will say is that you’ll probably make around £1 UKP per 1000 visitors. – Which is great if you get over 1,000 visitors per day – for pocket-money that is. Realistically that’s all you’ll make from AdSense: Pocket-money. Some money is better than no money; but I don’t advise hoping to make a living from AdSense, particularly if you own a low-traffic blog.

Put it this way: I made almost twice as much money from a 4-week-long affiliate program I ran while promoting a product, which didn’t exactly do as well as I’d have liked, than I did from Google AdSense in that year and the previous year.

Having said that I made more from AdSense during 2009 than I did from banner advertising. :O

- So yes you’ll make money with AdSense; maybe enough to cover your incidental expenses if you’re lucky. I use it, and I get some income from it.

I’ve seen many schemes etc on offer which reputedly show you how to make a fortune with AdSense. I’ve never yet met anyone, on or off line, who actually has made anything more than pocket-money with it.
